Overview – Week of 11/13

Band Quick Links:

    • This is an amazing fundraiser as we are visible and supporting our local community/locally owned business AND we make good money!  Several band students have been hired by Hen House after volunteering…
    • We need lots of help!  Parents AND students!
      • We have Pre-thanksgiving shifts from Sat 11/18-Weds 11/22
      • We have pre-Christmas shifts from Sat 12/16-Sun 12/24
    • This year, it is both in support of our Madrid Trip AND the band.  (at this point, the trip is paid for – no worries there! Proceeds will expand our trip buffer – the “just in case” fund that we must have when we travel, and if those funds are not used, then they become needed support for the band!)
    • BASIC EXPECTATIONS:  PARENTS AND STUDENTS NEEDED!
      • Arrive 10 minutes before your shift begins.  Shifts are 3 hours.  yes you can definitely sign up for more than 1!
      • Closed-toe shoes and no shorts are required (by law/hen house rule). 
      • Wear your BVN Band t-shirt or ¼ zip. Parents wear BVN or BVN Band apparel if you have it.
      • Upon arrival, check in with parent volunteer and review best practices with store staff or experienced BVN volunteer.
  • Jazz Ensemble to the Baker Jazz Festival, this coming Friday 11/17!

    • Crossroads Wind Symphony shares a concert with the LMS 8th grade band on Monday 11/6, 7 PM – right here in our BVN PAC! (extra credit/make-up/lettering points!)
    • Looking ahead to February: Musical Dates updated/corrected.
    • Make sure the Pancake Dinner is on your personal calendars – Friday February 2nd!  (this is an update from the previously published tentative date)
  • BVN Band Events, 2023-2024 – the “Fridge Calendar”
  • SENIORS – Apply for the Kerry Layton Scholarship!  This is a scholarship provided by the BV ed foundation to one blue valley schools band senior each year.  We’ve had several winners over the years!  The application is short and straightforward – highly recommended!!  Application deadline is February 14th – but don’t delay – apply now!
  • Blue Valley North Fall Activity Guide!  Features lots of Band Pictures!!!
  • Performance Recordings!
    • As we complete performances, we’ll post video and audio recordings.
    • The link above takes you to the login page of our band website…. ask a student for the password!  On that page you’ll find a folder containing performance recordings.

Congratulations to our BVN Band All-District Musicians!

These students will rehearse and perform with their respective all-district ensembles on Friday and Saturday Dec 1-2 at Blue Valley High, and performing with those ensembles makes the all-state eligible.  Congrats to EVERYONE who auditioned for going for it!!  This is a very competitive audition, and we are proud of all of you!!
