Fourth Quarter in the Band is AMAZING!

During these final weeks of the school year, we’ll perform our most challenging (and rewarding) music of the year, celebrate this wonderful school year, start getting prepared for next year, and (most importantly) celebrate our incredible students and senior class.  The fourth quarter is a blur, but REALLY fun.  Let’s Go!

Concert on the Lawn (COTL), May 15 –purchase dinner tickets by May 8

Wednesday, May 15th is our Band Recognition Dinner and Concert on the Lawn.  It is our end of the year bash for the band, and one of my (Mr. Freeman’s) absolute favorite nights each and every year.

We start with our band banquet at 5 PM in the Commons.  ALL band students and parents are invited, and we hope that most of you will attend!!  The meal is catered/ticketed via pre-orders only. All seniors eat free.  Everyone else needs to pay.  EVERYONE needs to make sure to RSVP/pay for their ticket:

At 6 PM in the commons, immediately following the Banquet (some will still be eating!), we are honored to recognize our phenomenal Senior Class and present our annual end of year awards.

After the Awards, at approx 6:30 PM, we move outside to the South Lawn (just outside the band room) and present our annual end of year performance, the Concert on the Lawn. (COTL).  This performance is meant to be in that amazing americana “town band” style.  An enjoyable outdoor concert featuring audience friendly music and lots of community.  Bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoy the music of our Combined Symphonic-Concert Bands, and the Wind Ensemble!

STUDENTS – Dress code for this Concert is NOT concert black.  It is springy/fun/bright colors that match the formality level of Concert Black, but much more colorful.  Shirt and tie level of formality with an emphasis on modesty, please.

SENIORS:  This is YOUR night.  All seniors and parents should attend the banquet and awards, where all of you will be recognized and presented a senior gift from the band.  Your attire for the night is – Show off and Dress to the nines!!!  Prom Dresses/tuxes/etc – GO for it!!

Summary:

From The Mustang Band Booster Club

Dear Mustang Band Booster Club (MBB) Members,

It’s been a phenomenal year for our music program, and we couldn’t be prouder of our talented students and dedicated teachers. We need your help to finish strong and set ourselves up for even greater success next year.

The Mustang Band Booster Club is seeking fresh faces to join our Board and leadership team. We have open positions for:

  • Secretary
  • WebMaster
  • At-Large Members

These roles are perfect for freshman or sophomore parents (soon to be sophomore and junior parents!) looking to get more involved. They are not overly time-consuming and offer a chance to stay informed and directly contribute to the band’s continued excellence.

There is also an opening for co-Treasurer (aka Treasurer in Training) for next year.

Contact our Current Board President if interested:  Caroline Danda: [email protected]

Board elections are tentatively scheduled on May 6th, immediately following the Mustang Parent Meetings. Your support and participation ensure our music programs can achieve their highest potential.

SUMMER MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES:  It’s time to think about them!!

Over the summer, there are many PHENOMENAL Music Camps.  We HIGHLY Encourage ALL band students to consider these.  Summer Camps present unique and powerful opportunities to enhance musicianship and build connections with other AMAZING young people, just like our band students.  Personal story from Freeman:  my eye doctor is a close college marching band friend… I introduced him to his wife when we were in band together… his wife was a good friend from, you guessed it, summer music camps!  Musicians are often some of the best people and close friends… camps are great ways to build life-long connections to other great people!!

A small sampling of phenomenal camps:

Since Covid – we have not had many students attend summer camps.  We hope to see this start to change this summer – In addition to the phenomenal experience that students will have at the camps – students who attend these camps come back with enhanced musicianship that ripples across our program, enhancing the quality of experience for everyone.

FYI- we will be hosting our Leadership and Color Guard Clinic at BVN, again, this summer.  More info coming soon as we are finalizing dates with our clinicians and confirming facilities.
